Storm

She lay on her back in the driveway with her hands folded together on her stomach. The pavement warmed her back as the wind cooled her face. The nearly black clouds swirled furiously above her without a drop of rain in sight.

Sirens blared and echoed all around her. She knew she should go inside, but she was not afraid. She was safe. For no external force could stand against what was churning inside her.
